Experience Annabel Arden's 2016 Glyndebourne production of the opera buffa Il barbiere di Siviglia, starring Danielle de Niese, Alessandro Corbelli, Taylor Stayton, and Björn Bürger. Enrique Mazzola conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Last performed at Glyndebourne in 1982, the Festival presents Annabel Arden's playful and energetic production of Rossini's famous opera Il barbiere di Siviglia. Under the baton of the Italian conductor and bel canto specialist Enrique Mazzola, the London Philharmonic Orchestra brings Rossini's well-known score to life. The leading roles are performed by Danielle de Niese (Rosina), Alessandro Corbelli (Dr Bartolo), Taylor Stayton (Count Almaviva), Björn Bürger (Figaro), Christophoros Stamboglis (Basilio), and Janis Kelly (Berta). Plot: The Count Almaviva has fallen in love with Rosina, but her guardian Bartolo keeps her confined in his house, and wants to marry her himself for her beauty and her inheritance. The Count asks the popular local barber Figaro to help him outwit Bartolo. Almaviva conceals his high status and tricks his way into Bartolo's house using a series of wild disguises, eventually vanquishing his enemies and winning his love.
